Bio/Info/Contact

Gaia Weise
artist/student/person
As an artist, I have studied for 7 years at various public arts-magnet schools in Florida. These schools provided me the opportunity to experiment with materials and associate with people who were also interested in the visual arts on a daily basis. Currently I am enrolled in Tufts University and the School of the Museum of Fine Arts and I am pursuing two bachelors degrees, one in art, and one in an as yet undecided academic major.

Acrylic, pen and pastel on paper
2008

This piece was done at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts summer program in 2008. I consider it the first of my surreal hilly landscapes, and it was the first eyebird appearance as well...

Lamentation of Christ

lamentation, originally uploaded by hello gaia.

Acrylic on canvas
2008

This painting was inspired by the composition of the famous pre-Renaissance painting "Lamentation of Christ" by the artist Giotto. I stumbled across this composition while doing an exercise in an art history class, and I had no idea how important it was to the history of painting. Good fortune.

Ark of the Covenant

Acrylic and Marker on wooden box
2008

This piece was inspired by fictitious images of the Ark of the Covenant, the container that held the stone tablets supposedly written in God's hand, proof of his existence.

Acrylic and pen on paper

This is not an image of the finished piece, there were some pen details I added after this picture was taken. Unfortunately, this piece has been left in Florida, and I cannot document it completed at this time.
